1. Apply for funding

This is on-demand scheme which means you can apply for it at any time.

Usually an entity will work with a research organization to shape up the research project. Most crown research institutes, and private research organizations have Māori business managers that work with Collectives. These business managers have an understanding of research and development and are familiar with the application process, and can provide advice on structuring a project and writing a proposal.

To apply entities should download and complete the Collectives Application Form and send it to the Foundation Māori business manager.

  2. Funding decision is made

A Foundation business manager will assess the proposal and if necessary seek additional information.   It is then assessed by two external reviewers who provide independent advice to the Foundation on the merits of the proposal.  You can expect the decision within two months of submitting your proposal.
  3. Contract is completed

Once the proposal is approved the Foundation will send both the entity and research organization an offer letter and contract to sign and return.
  4. Payment is made

The Collective manages the research and development project undertaken by the research organization.  The entity authorises invoices from the research organization. Once authorized the Foundation pays the research organization directly.
  5. Evaluating success

The Foundation may monitor project results.
