TechNZ
Capability – TechNZ Expert

The TechNZ Expert scheme aims to grow capability within firms by partially funding the costs for an expert to work on a technically challenging research and development (R&D) project. The expert will either provide:

  • specialist technical expertise for a R&D project
  • experience in commercialising the results of research to better define or target a future R&D project.

TechNZ Expert funding should result in new products, processes or services being commercialised by the company. However support for a product once it is ready for market such as marketing and branding is not covered. NZ Trade and Enterprise may be able to help you with these activities.

Investments will be made in a range of companies, from start-ups to mature organisations.

TechNZ Expert funding covers 50% of the expert’s costs. Payment is made to the company employing the expert.

In addition to financial assistance we can also help businesses through our Global Expert service which locates pre-screened experts who can solve a broad range of business challenges.

  2. Apply for funding
  3. Funding decision is made
  4. Contract is established
  5. Payment is made
  6. Evaluating process

Timeline

The size of your project investment will determine how long the process will take. Typically small TechNZ capability funding through regional business partners will take several weeks while large investments can require sign-off from our management, and will take longer.
