Portfolio Investment Strategies

These brief documents, shown below, outline the long-term research focus, purpose and scope of the Foundation’s investment portfolios and are designed to guide the direction of your research. They also provide background information about the role of the portfolio in the wider research, science and technology sector.

The first half of the document summarises how your research should aim to benefit New Zealand, and provides details of which areas of the portfolio your research should focus on.

The second half of the document provides an overview of the target outcomes (the overarching goals) of the portfolio.

The Portfolio Investment Strategy documents provide a big picture overview of the portfolio, listing all the portfolio’s target outcomes and themes (where applicable). A specific investment round may contain one or more of the target outcomes and themes found within the strategy.
