Change to document generation for concepts, proposals and contracts.

The problem

When an applicant creates a concept, proposal or contract, the Foundation? has used a "Microsoft Word Generator" to combine the Word uploads and the information applicants enter into text boxes through the myFRST Portal.

The "Word Generator" has several inherent issues that need to be resolved. In some cases, documents can become "locked up", they may take excessive amounts of time to print, or may not be generated at all, and when you do get to download, the format may not always be as good as you may need.

The solution

The Foundation has recognised that this is not an ideal situation. From Monday 17 December, when an applicant generates a concept, proposal or contract, the portal will now use a "PDF Generator" to create the document.

The benefits

  • consistently formatted documents
  • no blank pages
  • consistent font sizes
  • Word uploads will appear exactly as uploaded
  • landscape Word documents can be uploaded (for example, a business case)
  • higher level of security with PDF documents
  • no change to the application process.

Issues to consider

  • If you do not have a version of Adobe Reader, a link to the Adobe website is provided here and on the MyFRST? portal’s print/preview proposal screen.
  • This only needs to be done once on each desktop computer, if at all. Your site may have a version available to you without downloading -- check with your organisation's helpdesk or technical team.
  • Any documents already generated will be retained in their existing Word format until the user chooses to regenerate them. Until then they can be viewed in the usual way
