Where does the money come from?

The various Crown agencies and Ministries that make up the New Zealand Government are funded through a series of financial packages, called ‘Votes’. The Foundation[definition]'s funding is provided through Vote RS&T[definition] (research, science and technology), which is made up of a number of output expenses[definition].

An output expense will deliver a common set[definition] of goals or services. The funding for each output expense is specified in the Government Budget each year.

We receive money to invest in this area through the Supporting Promising Individuals (SPI) output expense and the Technology New Zealand output expense (for Technology for Industry Fellowships).
