The NBP? portfolio supports research related to the development of added-value export non-food products from New Zealand’s biological industries, and associated services.

The types of industries targeted for investment from this portfolio include:

  • companies developing and selling added-value non-food products which are based on our biological sectors and resources
  • non-food product value chains
  • services associated with added-value non-food biological products.

This portfolio supports include basic-targeted, applied and developmental research.

What this portfolio aims to do

Investments in this area aim to support New Zealand’s efforts to increase our export revenue.

This is achieved by developing new non-food products and associated services that command premiums in global markets.

Who can apply for this funding?

Research organisations, including universities, crown research institutes and private organisations doing research for the wider benefit of New Zealand.

Develop high-value and premium-earning market-led non-food products and related services with Māori-owned businesses.
