Technology Internship funding supports undergraduate students to do a research and development project in innovative companies. This scheme was previously known as TIF Undergraduate?.
The company gains science and technology skills to help them develop their new product, process or service and the intern gains valuable commercial research and development expertise that will prepare them for a career in the industry.
Companies resident in New Zealand that are registered for GST are eligible to apply. These companies must have a commercial focus, developing and selling products, processes and services for profit. Publicly owned, state owned enterprises can also apply.
Foreign owned companies resident in New Zealand can also apply. A key issue for these companies is to demonstrate that the funding will benefit New Zealand.
The Internship involves senior undergraduate students enrolled in an engineering, science or technology degree (NZQA level 7).
The funding is provided to the company to employ the student to undertake a research and development project.
