The bidding round for logistics support for the 2008/09 and/or 2009/10 seasons is now closed.

  • The next opportunity for applying for logistics support in Antarctica? will be for the 2010/11 and/or the 2011/12 season(s).
  • The application rounds for these will open in August 2009 with a deadline in October 2009.
  • Antarctica New Zealand is providing logistical support for the 2010/11 and/or the 2011/12 season(s).

The Foundation is supporting Antarctica New Zealand to do this.

The types of research targeted for support by the Foundation and Antarctica New Zealand include:

  • Antarctic physical environments research
  • Southern Ocean research
  • Antarctic ecosystems research.

What this process aims to do

Research carried out in this area aims to support New Zealand’s efforts to foster international cooperation in Antarctica, and further understand the unique ecological processes that take place on the continent.

Who can apply for logistical support?

Research organisations, including universities, crown research institutes and private organisations doing research for the wider benefit of New Zealand.
