High Value Manufacturing (MAN)

This portfolio aims to support research that contributes to manufactured goods, materials and related services.

We are investing in this portfolio using a two-stage contestable process as part of the New Materials, Technologies and Services (NMTS) investment process.

Current funding available

In 2007/08 we are seeking to invest $9.5 million in research that aligns with the following target outcome:

• improved productivity and international competitiveness of New Zealand's manufacturing sector.

For the themes that are related to this target outcome, refer to the investment signal under Related Downloads (see top right of page).

We are seeking to invest in short to medium-term research projects as described in the following table.

The size and length of the research investment we seek to make:

Type of contract	Length	Qualities	Investment
Short-term project	Up to 3 years	Requests up to $350,000 per annum (GST inclusive). Aims to achieve a single objective. Contributes towards one intermediate outcome.	Up to 20% of total funds (maximum of $1.9 million per annum within the NMTS? investment process)
Medium-term project	Up to 6 years	Aims to achieve a single objective. Contributes towards one intermediate outcome.	Up to 100% of total funds (maximum of $9.5 million per annum)
