This portfolio aims to support research that improves the value of New Zealand's food production.

We are investing in this portfolio using a two-stage contestable process as part of the Leveraging New Zealand's Natural Resources (LNNR) investment process.

What stage is the investment process at?

  • We are currently assessing the proposal applications.

    Applicants will be notified of the results on 14 July 2008.

    A list of the successful proposals will be published on the website a week later.

Current funding available

In 2007/8 we are seeking to invest $7.3 million in research that aligns with the following target outcome:

  • increasing the international competitiveness of food products and processes to achieve premiums above commodity prices.

We are seeking to invest in short to medium-term research projects as described in the following table.

The size and length of the research investment we seek to make:
