Current Requests for Proposals (RfPs)

The Foundation for Research, Science and Technology was disestablished and replaced with the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI) on 1 February 2011.  That is provided for in the Research, Science and Technology Act 2010, which was passed at the end of 2010.

MSI took over responsibility for managing the Government's investments in research, science, and technology that were previously managed by the Foundation.

Accordingly, from 1 February 2011, all applications and proposals for funding will be processed and managed by MSI.  Applications and proposals should be sent to MSI at:

PO Box 5762
Wellington 6145
Phone: 04-917-0199
Fax: 04-917-0190
Email:

National Network of Commercialisation Centres (NNCC)

The Request for Proposals: Commercialisation Centres document is now available. This RFP is part of our National Network of Commercialisation Centres work stream, announced by the Government as part of the May budget.

We are looking for a limited number of providers who will each set up a centre. The individual centres are then expected to operate as a network which will evolve over time.

For those who intend to be part of a response to the RFP a presentation will be held by the Foundation in Wellington on Friday 10 December at 2pm (venue yet to be confirmed). This meeting provides an opportunity for any questions you may have about the RFP’s content.
Please RSVP to suse.reynolds@frst.govt.nz by Monday 6 December if you would like to attend.

The closing date for proposals is 5pm, Monday 31 January 2011.

Delivering a Sustainable Future for Freshwater Resources

Expressions of interest are invited from eligible participants in a collaborative Europe-New Zealand trans-disciplinary Freshwater ‘Sandpit’ workshop.

The Sandpit, Delivering a Sustainable Future for Freshwater Resources, will be run by the Foundation in conjunction with FRENZ (Facilitating Research cooperation between Europe and New Zealand).

Closing date:     06 January 2011
Apply to:           Online at FRENZ or via e-mail to sandpits@frenz.org.nz

To be held in Rotorua, NZ, from 13-18 March 2011, the Sandpit aims to identify best-practice models to characterise and map groundwater resources and identify methods for freshwater allocation that take account of the environmental, socio-economic and cultural aspects of water use. The Sandpit is expected to involve up to 22 researchers from Europe and New Zealand, with the aims of producing a research proposal(s) that can support relevant policy making processes and establishing closer Europe-New Zealand research relationships in this field in the future.

The Foundation plans to allocate $2.26 million¹ (€1.28 million²) per year for up to six years to support genuinely novel and potentially transformative research arising from the Sandpit.
