This scheme aims to grow capability within firms by partially funding the costs for an expert to work on a technically challenging research and development project. The expert will either provide:

  • specialist technical expertise for a research and development project
  • experience in commercialising the results of research to better define or target a future research and development project.

Technology Expert? funding should result in new products, processes or services being commercialised by the company. However support for a product once it is ready for market such as marketing and branding is not covered. NZ Trade and Enterprise may be able to help you with these activities.

You can find information on who is eligible to apply for Technology Expert funding on the scheme overview page.

Current funding available

The Foundation? will invest approximately $1.8 million in the financial year to 30 June 2008, using an on-demand process. Investments will be made in a range of companies, from start-ups to mature organisations.
